Learning to Look Art Appreciation
Students in Grades 2-5 enjoy monthly art appreciation classes through the Learning to Look program. By studying famous painters and their masterpieces, students gain the knowledge, passion, and critical analysis skills to understand and interpret art. Local art experts volunteer as Learning to Look teachers, sharing their knowledge of art history and technique. Students discover the complex colors and geometry of paintings while also applying their lessons to other academic subjects. Each year culminates with a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art where students visit the artwork they have studied in class.
