Library and Author Study Program
The library at St. Mark houses 3,000 volumes that attract avid readers and curious minds across all grades. Our dedicated, full-time librarian collaborates with teachers to integrate the library’s resources into the classroom curriculum.Students visit the library to borrow books, perform research, develop projects, and give presentations. The library provides a quiet space for students to explore their interests independently and to work together in groups.
Since 2007, the library has hosted a unique Author Study Program that brings celebrated authors and illustrators to discuss their work with our students. After reading a book in class, students have the special opportunity to meet and interview the person who brought the story to life. Excitement spreads among the students as they actively engage with inspiring role models and learn about writing as a profession. Over twenty authors and illustrators have visited St. Mark, including Richard Peck, Andrea Davis Pinkney, Ellen Dreyer, Roni Schotter, and Bryan Collier. The Author Study Program is supported by annual grants from Library Connections.
